FDIC-Insured – Backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. Government
BankSouth is proud to announce that we have completed the acquisition of State Bank of Cochran – including First Laurens Bank and Community Bank of Johnson County!
State Bank of Cochran is a locally owned community bank with a legacy dating back to 1921. With four branches operating under the names State Bank of Cochran, First Laurens Bank (Dexter and Dublin), and Community Bank of Johnson County (Wrightsville), they are the largest bank in Bleckley County.
There are no immediate changes to your account. A very small number of duplicate account numbers exist between the two banks, so we anticipate little to no impact to customers.
No. You can continue using your current checks and debit card. If a rare account number conflict arises in the future, we will provide replacements at no cost to you.
Initially, you should continue banking at your current branch. Over time, we plan to expand cross-branch servicing between both BankSouth and State Bank of Cochran branches.
This partnership allows both BankSouth and BankSouth Mortgage to grow with purpose — bringing together teams who care about relationships, financial strength, and the well-being of our communities.
From Cochran to Dublin, from Atlanta to Savannah, from Watkinsville to Greensboro and Lake Oconee, our mission remains the same: delivering safe, easy, and personal banking experiences — now with even more support behind them.
“This is the right move for our teams, our customers, and the future of community banking in the markets we proudly serve.”
— Jackie Bowen, President, State Bank of Cochran
